Hey guys!

I recently started editing photos and videos lately, and I notice that my current MacBook Pro is a little slow. It is an Early 2013 15" model with these specs: https://i.imgur.com/DlDLhfP.png

I'm thinking about upgrading, but I'm wondering if it will be worth it or now. The model I'm thinking about buying is this one https://support.apple.com/kb/SP756?locale=en_GB . I'm thinking about buying it used and can get a good price on that one.

But I wonder if it's gonna be a good upgrade for me? Of course it will be a little better, but is it worth it? They both have Intel Core i7 quad-core. The newer one has 2,8GHz instead of 2,7GHz. Same amount of RAM.

I know this can be a subjective question, but I guess I'm looking for subjective answers as well, as I have not too much knowledge about this kind of stuff.

Two questions:

1) How much would you be paying for it? There are several 2017 models in the apple refurb store (https://www.apple.com/us_epp_5004571/shop/refurbished/mac)
I recommend apple refurb because they have a decent discount, and while they may be more expensive than one you'd find on ebay, you will get it essentially like brand new, with a brand new battery and case in perfect condition. Plus an included 1-year Apple warranty.

2) You are aware the 2017 models have the infamous butterfly keyboard, which is the subject of several lawsuits due to it easily breaking, correct? Plus if the keyboard on that model does fail, it will NOT get the updated (possibly more reliable) keyboard that's on the 2019 models. Instead it will be replaced with a working keyboard but with the same design flaw.

Here's a helpful article giving you the rundown of the keyboard issues:

Excerpt: "The prominent Apple blogger John Gruber called Apple's butterfly keyboards "the worst products in Apple's history"
