I did some brief searching but I did not find an answer...

So as some of you may know I am waiting to buy a new MBP. My question is can I use my current monitor (Dell 17" display about 2 years old) with my MBP too create a dual display setup? I do not know the exact model number, but I think it is a DVI plug.

Also, if I use my MBP with this monitor as a desktop (the laptop closed) will the MBP automatically switch resolutions depending on which monitor it is using when it waked up from sleep mode? My current resolution on this monitor is 1280x1024.

Thanks all

Yes you can use it. Any monitor should work with the MBP.

When you connect the monitor you can set the resolution of the internal monitor and of the external Dell monitor separately.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply.

It sounds like the most tedious task will be unplugging the monitor from my desktop and plugging into the MBP. I'm sure I will find this to be less annoying when my screen real estate nearly doubles at no cost to me. :D

Thanks again!
