Switched to a new job and now have no service while at work 8-4pm M-F because my desk is about 30 feet inside a huge research building. I have AT&T and use an iPhone 5. Can I switch to another provider and avoid my ETF (have 12 months left- my wife has 4 months left)? Is that a valid reason?

Thanks!

You can call them up and try, but I'm pretty sure that every carrier's terms and services (in the contract that you signed) has a clause that says they don't have to provide service literally everywhere that you go. :(

I highly doubt you will get any break on the ETF.

One possible suggestion: sell the phone on craigslist and use the $ to pay the ETF.

Then you can start over with a provider that works better for you.

In Canada Rogers mobile had a policy that if you move to an area where they do not offer service but a competitor does, they will cancel and waive the fee.

It may be worth looking into:)
