Just format the drive to HFS+ in Mac OS X and it should work fine.

They say it's for Windows because it's probably formatted to NTFS by the factory.

hard drives are universal hardware and so work on any operating system. what they mean by Windows only is it will be either formatted as FAT32 or NTFS. as soon as you get it plug it in and then erase and format it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and Time Machine will be able to use it.

EDIT: ^ who was fastest oh almighty MacRumors God? :D

It will most likely work, but the software that ships with it is only for Windows (meaningless stuff usually). However, I would highly recommend going for a drive that has FireWire. It makes a huge difference when copying large amounts of files, as the Time Machine backup will (certainly the first time, but even after that it will be helpful). That one almost seems a bit gimmicky too.

Time Machine will format it to the proper HFS+ filesystem so you can get started using it.

It was actually rated on cnet and got editor's choice, but thank you everyone. Yea, I may actually go for the Mac version then, because it includes the dock and firewire 800 cable.

Any hard drive will work and I usually pick what's on sale. Keep in mind that CNet's review might have included some Windows only software features as well. ;)

It is in an attractive metal case though.
