I have a late 2011 15" MBP with 2.4 GHz i7 CPU. I have seen threads here where people say it can use 1600 MHz RAM, but it will only run it at 1600 MHz if it is non-XMP RAM. If it is XMP RAM, then it will only run at 1333 MHz.
In one thread I think people were talking about Kingston RAM and how they had 2 versions of the RAM - one version that was XMP and another version that was non-XMP. You could differentiate them by the model number.
Is there any way to tell if this Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz RAM will run at 1600 MHz in my MBP - is it XMP or non-XMP?
