I know that the powerbook G4 takes PC2700 333MHZ DDR, But I thought that this RAM on newegg may be backwards compatible.

It's not. DDR2 is not backwards compatable. It shouldn't even fit in the slot.

If this is a Powerbook G4 1.33 17", it requires DDR PC2700 RAM, no other. Furthermore, this machine uses processor-slewing when it goes into energy save, and you can take for granted that any standard PC2700 chip is NOT slewing-compatible and will crash the machine . Stick with the Samsung genuine chip for this machine, (and the 1.0 17" and the 1.0 and 1.25 15"). In the USA a good source is Data Memory Systems
