will this ram work on a g5 powermac?

Wanting to make a final transition from pc to mac, i want to replace my pc desktop with a g5 dual proc. powermac.

I have 2 512mb Corsair XMS pc3200 ddr ram sticks in my current pc, which Id like to use on the mac. Is this possible? I was told it wouldnt work, but i'd like to know why...?
