The long and short of it is that I'm looking for a new monitor. I'm considering buying an ultrawide monitor, as I've never owned one before and they look appealing to my workflow. Although I think this monitor will work fine, I just want to be absolutely sure before dropping almost $300 for it. I want to mainly use it with my 5,1 Mac Pro with the W5500 video card (4x DisplayPort), but also would like it to work with my M1 MacBook Air should I need to use it with that machine. I don't know if I'm actually gonna buy this, I just want to know just in case. Any ideas?

I have used UW displays for work. You say workflow but that may be different than mine. I use it for spreadsheets and multi website windows for my work. The 21:9 is what makes it great to me.

Disclaimer, I do not play games, so if that is important, I am really useless.

It is very low resolution though, so I hope you aware of that.
I'm working right now off a 19-year-old Cinema Display that's older than I am, and is 1680x1050, so anything will be an upgrade for me! Do you have recommendations of similarly-priced monitors that are a higher resolution (i.e. 1440p or 4K)?

Mostly web browsing, video editing, and music production... that's about it—nothing super exciting.

I can't think of anything better in the $200 range, but if you can go up in price, there are several nice 3840x1440 ultrawides.

If you can live without the ultrawide aspect ratio, there are 4K monitors (3840x2160) in the upper $300 range.

I strongly recommend you look at the various monitor threads here. The topic has been exhaustively discussed.
