I mean, will it display better image quality with faster graphics? Possibly replacing HDMI entrances on next game consoles and TV's? Or are them both different?
 
Thunderbolt is aimed at totally different usage. Thunderbolt's main advantage is the support for video and data, whereas HDMI is limited to video (and 100Mbit Ethernet IIRC in 1.4). You don't really need the data for connection between the device and TV. TB is also a lot more expensive (at least atm) so it's not going to see mainstream adoption anytime soon.
