I have 2 Apple Watches a SS7 and SS9, I am planning to get the new 10 SS (hoping they will have a new SS) and trade the SS7. It seems like I remember the new trade in values change on the day of announcement or they day we can start to order the new ones. Right now it is telling me I can get $125 in trade in value or Apple Gift Card. I am thinking about going ahead and start to process to trade in now rather than wait when I order on the 13th. What is others thoughts on this?

Last year, about 2 months after release, Apple increased the trading values slightly, for the Iltra it went up about $20 or so if memory serves.
If you do a trade in via mail, they won’t issue the gift card til they receive and inspect it, so if you can do it in store, timing might be better

After I asked this I got thinking I would not have that gift card in time to order the new watch on the 13th. I am not sure they would do the trade in store. We live close to a big Apple store but it's been years I think they would do the trades at this store. I may just end up waiting and see what happens next Friday when we can place orders.

They will take your trades in store.

Unfortunately not all stores. I live in Las Vegas and the store in Town Square is extremely busy and will not take trades with the new release and has not for several years. I have not however tried prior to the new release. Even when I have tried for in store pick up the required trade to be done by mail. Now I have done the trade by mail with two previous watches and 4 previous series phones with no issues. It has been since at least 2016 or 2017 since I was able to do an In store trade but also not during new release time.

Wow, trade in’s really hit the crapper.. a less than year old S9 base 42m is only worth $170 of $399 price. That seems pretty bunk. I guess apples logic is that a watch should depreciate ~ 225-275 a year depending on the watch.

I should have ran to Apple and attempted a trade in prior to Monday, because my trade in of SS7 went from $125 to $105.00 but I have also run into the problem of my particular Apple store not doing trade in. It is a very busy Las Vegas store, told one of the busiest Apple stores in the US and they just do not do trades and require you to send them in. I am doing store pick up for my new Titanium watch on the 20th but trade box is being sent to me. No other option. Oh well should have planned this out several weeks ago.
