Hi

I don’t have a phone so am living with Apple constantly spamming/harassing me, with notifications about it ( for finishing Apple ID ).

I need to update my ipad but am afraid what will happen if I do, will it ask me for phonenumber or will it just install updates without any BS? I also don’t have access to the mail I used for the Apple ID, will that be an issue?
I don’t wanna be locked out or something.

I used to have iphones ( workphones ) at my old jobs and have installed updates on them without any issues, but they had a phonenumber linked to it, ofc. 🙃

Am in the EU if that makes a difference.

If you mean iPadOS updates then you do not need access to a phone or your original email. You will just need your security code.

I would recommend knowing your Apple ID and password. I would also recommend getting access the email address that is associated with your apple ID.

Unfortunately, I don’t know what “ just install updates without any BS” means so I can not answer that.

Hi

Thanks for replying.

I can’t access the old mail, cuz I didn’t log in ( to keep it active ). It was a mail created for use on the ipad, but it was a Tutanota-mail and Apple don’t allow that ( I didn’t know that ), so I had to use another mail after I finished the first time turn on/setup.
I guess one can change the AppleID/Tuta-mail but I don’t know, if it will ask me to log in on the old one ( the Tuta ) to verify that I’m me or something. I know my password for download in App-store, ofc.
Am afraid to mess with it and get locked out or something.

What I meant with install updates without BS was, when I update, will it ask me for phone number at some point?
Apple is constantly bugging me ( with top screen notifications ) to give my phone number to finish the AppleID. I don’t have a phone ( and I don’t think anyone should be required to either, for having a tablet/computer ). So I’m worried if I’ll be locked out or can’t continue updating, if it asks me for phone at some point when installing updates.

It won’t ask for your phone number for updates but I highly recommend sorting your account out.
