Will USB hub work on MBP?

Hi all,
Happy new year to all

I moved from Windows to MBP this new year

I am using my wife's MBP which is a Late 2011 edition

It only has 2 USB ports. My question is if I buy a usb hub do you think this would work on MBP?

What you guys thinks is the best option for having additional usb ports ?

Any USB hub will work provided the hub itself is not defective.

Which devices do you plan to use the extra usb ports for?

I've had varied results with a nonpowered and powered usb hubs

The non powered is not used ate all since purchase

The latest powered hub does not work well enough to 'power' my western digital extenal hdd and epson printer via airport extreme -each devices are working fine when connectred direct to the airport extreme

Mostly I am trying to connect the iPhone 5s or external hard disks..sometimes charge kindle too

I think that a MBP built-in usb port can send more amps to the iPad to charge it faster.

Just keep in mind that an iPad might charge very slowly on a usb hub.
