I have an original iPhone with the 450 minutes + 200 texts plan. My uncle has a 3G iPhone that he doesnt use anymore since he got a 3GS iPhone. He said he would give me the 3G since i dont want to buy a 3GS now because the 4th gen iPhone will probably be coming out in early summer like usual and i'd rather just wait for that.

I have an upgrade for my original iPhone, obviously, but I just want to know if switching to the 3G phone my uncle is going to give me will cost me that upgrade even. I just want to be able to buy whatever new iPhone comes out this summer at the subsidized price and not have to shell out a ton of $$$ for the entire price of the new phone.

Any help, greatly appreciated.

No, all you gotta do is put your simcard inside your uncles iphone 3G.
You wont have to sign any contract or agree to renew with AT&T and you're upgrade eligability would still be good for another device.
