I’ve got an Apple watch series 3, works great Will watchOS 8 still be supported / get updates?

watch OS8 would no longer get any regular updates, but if there is a security issue, Apple may release an update to fix just that.

Apple Watch Series 3 is no longer supported by Apple. It won't get any more updates moving forward.

WatchOS 8 will receive only critical security updates and ONLY for watches that don't support WatchOS 9. Basically if you have Series 3 for example I'd expect to never see an update unless a really bad security bug is found then you might get an update.
