I was just thinking about this. Will you put your iphone in a case as soon as they unbox it to prevent the AT&T employees from touching it and possibly scratching/messing it up? I thought it was a good idea and ill probably just spend the 15.00 or so for a temp. case before I invisible shield it. :D

Saw somewhere that they have to use the cable to connect it to itunes for activation.

I was told they have to take it out of the box. It was in a few other threads...

The back doesnt come in plastic....

Im still debating on no case or the invisible shield just on the back of the phone. But id like to keep it nice until I leave the store. Just what I need, an employee taking it out and banging it on the counter.

no way i'm letting an store guy/gal open my iPhone..
its MINE.. i will have THAT pleasure than you very much..

all i have to do is swap the sim from my current iPhone and plonk it into the new iPhone..

sign an 18 month contract.. the O2 guy/gal calls up customer services and tells them i am upgrading.. and they switch over my tariff..

jobs a good un!

so i hope anyway.. lol!

everyone needs to chill out with the ZOMGZ THE ATT EMPLOYEE IS GOING TO SMUDGE MY PHONE nonsense

it is wrapped in film. i doubt they are going to remove it.

If that happens you just demand a new iPhone. Say you won't accept that phone since it has been mistreated.

Bring a pair of gloves...hand them to the person selling you the phone...and say, "For your personal safety, wear these."

I think all of the glossy, smart packaging is a waste if you can't be the first one to rifle through it (however you choose to do so).

Being the first to touch it is part of the apple experience.

btw...I was kidding about the rubber gloves. But it would be nice to open it yourself (at least).

In an email just sent to me from Apple it states this...

"The Apple Retail Store is the perfect place to buy your iPhone 3G. With our free Personal Setup, a Specialist will help you choose your phone, select a rate plan, and—best of all—have your new iPhone 3G ready to make calls, browse the web, and receive email right on the spot."

Which leads me to believe they will be unboxing and setting up your phone and email by "touching" it. OMG! They are gonna touch your phone....what will you do?

Lame

Rubber-Gloves-latex-box-supplier-wholsaler.jpg

so the stupid employees dont touch mine bare handed

I'm buying mines at the ATT store and the guy told me that I'll be taking it home to activate it through itunes :D

im waiting for the payg iphone so i dont have to worry about any cretin putting their filthy hands on my precious iphone...

just hope i dont have to wait too long...

i think there is an option for them to set it up for you (ie:setting up email and such)-- if you do not want them to do that, tell them to set up your plan and you will set it up on your own.
