If parallels is updated for retina do you think that will trickle down to all the windows apps or are we screwed in terms of text sharpness until windows updates every app which will take years?

My greatest fear is paralells will call this upgrade worthy and charge more money

Windows has native DPI scaling, which work pretty well. Unless a program uses bitmaps for text, they should scale pretty well. All Parallels has to do is expose the native resolution to Windows, and then you should be able to set scaling there.

You will have a problem with UI elements, etc that are bitmap and which will get stretched and look blurry.

Also, in Windows 8, all Metro style apps should be either using vector based graphics for their UI or least provide a few versions of bitmaps (I think Microsoft guidelines say you should provide 3 versions) so they should scale pretty well.

Lol probably correct unfortunately. Timing might indicative too. They upgraded 6-7 right after they put 6 in the MacUpdate bundle...and 7 is in the current one. Might be coincidence but it seems too perfect.

And ML is just around the corner...

It's updated already. Someone with RMBP test it out please! See if the resolution is better than apps like Word for Mac.

It sure looks like crap. Text is the worst. Interfaces in Word, Excel are manageable. Using Windows DPI setting is useless.

Lots of work ahead.

Which scaling mode were you running; have you tried the "more space" options? Would you be able to show us a screenshot of the poor text?
