Hi all.

I looked everywhere on these forums for help pertaining specifically to my problem but couldn't find anything.

I had to replace my MBP hard drive which I did no problem. I then connected the old drive via USB and used Winclone to clone the Boot Camp partition which it did successfully. I then used Boot Camp Assistant to create a partition, no problem there.

When trying to restore the Winclone image it runs for about 5 seconds then says Errors Found Check the Log.

Here is the log...

After this happens the Boot Camp partition is not on the desktop and it seems that Winclone has resized the partition for no apparent reason. I have tried installing XP Pro from scratch but it just hangs on the "Setup is starting WIndows" message.

The Boot Camp partition I am trying to restore is XP Pro I think. Or XP Home, can't remember. I can run the partition fine with VMWare and the partition mounted via USB. The MBP is a Core 2 Duo 2.2 Ghz with 4gb of Ram.
XP ran fantastically well before I changed the hard drive and I'd love to get it back without having to reinstall EVERYTHING!

Thanks so much for any help with this matter.

I'm not on one of my Macs, but the problem is with asr. One of the preferences allows you to use it (or not). Can you try it with the other setting?

Do you know if this was NTFS or FAT? I can't see that in the logs quickly.

If it was FAT, I'm afraid you may be sunk.

I could use your help as well

That one seems to boil down to some other software getting in the way. Do you have a Western Digital external drive by any chance? I might be able to see more if you can post your entire log file. ZIP it and attach to this thread.

Not A WD drive. It's the original Seagate Momentus that was in the Macbook when i bought it.

I am getting the log file ready to post.

Thanks so much for the help guys!

Winclone Log File attached.

I think the XP partition i am trying to clone is FAT and not NTFS. Winclone makes the iso and I can mount the Winclone image on my desktop but WInclone still finds errors when it tries to restore. And then it changes the partition size of the target drive too.

Sorry! Fell through the cracks. Haven't looked at the logs and will try to do so later. Bringing thread up to the top so I don't lose it again.

No worries!!!

Thanks so much for taking the time. I realized this was going to take a while so I borrowed a PC in the meantime.

Any help much appreciated!

Not using any external drive. There is a usb dongle for my microscope camera, though, not sure if that would cause the problem.

I kept on trying, over ten times with reboots and it finally worked, but ended up just restoring to the 32gb partition.

Thanks anyways.
