Window flickers in Safari when resizing window

In Safari 5.1.7 (OS X 10.7.4), when I resize the Safari browser window, there is all of a sudden a seizure-inducing flicker while I drag the right bottom window corner. The faster I drag, the faster the flicker. What could be causing this?
