I might be in the minority here, but i actually prefer stage manager over the windowed apps... or at least on the iPad mini thats my preference. I might feel differently using a 13 inch ipad pro. Very happy Apple kept stage manager as an option.

I didn’t realize that you could long press to get stage manager view. Once I did that, and ran with a connected, ASD, it was amazing. I love that stage manager is there as well

I quite agree with the OP. With Windowed Apps, the "desktop" gets cluttered very fast. With SM, you can easily add windows to the current app and switch back and forth between desktops. What's there not to like?

I agree. I believe if people actually used Stage Manager they would prefer it over Windowed mode. It's a much better workflow and those that actually miss split screen it's much simpler with SM. Open both apps (doesn't matter if they are full screen or not) and you can easily press and hold the traffic light and do Fill & Arrange to split apps. Switching between stages is simple with either 5-finger swipes or using the stage selector on the left with a swipe in.

Stage Manager is significantly better than in iPadOS18.

I think you meant to say that SM is significantly better than in iPadOS 18. It was already there, but it didn't work as well as in 26, because you couldn't freely resize windows.

My Mac is too old to run SM, but, now that I've seen how it works, I think I'd use it on a new Mac as well if I ever get one.

Correct that's what I meant. Not only could you not freely resize, you had the restricted border around the entire Stage so windows weren't utilizing the full screen.
