Updated Windows 10 in BootCamp today. I was kind of shocked by the full screen advert I was confronted with after the update. Lots more ads in the other screens I went to. I hope Apple doesn't follow their lead.

Where are you seeing the ads? I got rid of my old Windows 7 desktop PC two years ago and replaced it with a Windows 10 virtual machine under parallels. I have never seen any ads. Are you seeing them in Microsoft Edge maybe? I hardly ever use that, since it's a VM I only use Windows for some specialized software and do everything else in MacOS.

Now, I actually purchased a new copy Windows 10 when I setup the VM. So, perhaps that's the difference?

Screen shot? Are you referring to 'What's New' to showcase new features? Never seen ads. If anything just some shortcuts in Start menu tree to install crapplets and notification to use OneDrive for backup but those can be removed/disabled. Not as bad as MacOS subscription nagware.

Ad popped up right after login! I was "huh?" Fortunately I don't use Windows much. The only reason I even booted into it was to let the latest updates install.

Yeah, I have an old copy 10, so maybe that's it. It is, however, paid for and registered.
