When I try to boot Windows 10 installation ISO, i see blue windows logo fora bit and then it crashes with this error (see attachment)

I tried searching internet but found nothing, probably because 10 is too new.

I prefer to ask here, but if nobody knows then should I ask virtualbox forums?

Specs: 15-inch MacBook Pro Mid-2009, 10.10 Yosemite
Virtualbox 4.3.16 r95972

You can select Windows 8.1 as the Operating System for the VM ?

P.S. ... and you did download the 64-bin Version of the Windows 10 Technical Preview ?

No problems with windows 10 (64 bit) in VMWare fusion 7 for me. Its retina support is mostly good, but not perfect. Boots fine.

You may need to check with Virtual Box or on their forums. I loaded it into VMware Fusion 7 over the weekend and it's working fine that way.

Yes i downloaded 64 bit
I selected Other Windows (64 bit), not Windows 10, because there is no Windows 10 option in virtual box yet.

I fixed it!!
I just changed the OS setting to Windows 8.1 64 bit instead of Other Windows 64 bit and it worked!

So apparently the OS setting does something more than just the name and icon

Sounds like OP has it answered, but just to check in...

Windows 10 Technical Preview, 32-bit version runs fine inside Parallels 8 on Yosemite Public Beta. (Yes, even though Parallels says that "Parallels Desktop 8 will NOT run on OS X Yosemite (10.10)." - emphasis theirs.)
