Hi all,
I know this is effectively sacrilege, but I'm contemplating moving solely to Windows 10 on my Mac Pro Mid 2010. I use it more and more these days, and I'm happy with OS X and Windows enough to make the change.
I currently use OpenZFS to manage 4x 2Tb disks in a RAIDZ array for redundancy. Perhaps unsurprisingly, no-one has made a port for Windows (though I see someone has made an experimental one for btrfs).
Ideally I'd like to move my data to a backup, wipe the 4 drives, manage them with Storage Spaces, and have them formatted as ReFS, for added protection.
Has anyone tried this on a Mac Pro? Does it matter that it sees some drives as being connected by IDE rather than SATA? Has anyone had much experience with ReFS?
Main goal of this is to give me the freedom in the future to move to a GTX 1070/1080, though I haven't really decided on that yet.
I know Microsoft don't really advocate using ReFS, but I do have a backup server running FreeNAS, so I'm aware there's a potential risk in using ReFS, but hopefully my backup routine should offset that.
