Okay, so I'm looking at doing a clean install soon, which will be of Mavericks plus a Windows 7 or 8 Bootcamp partition (probably 7, but I heard Mavericks Bootcamp may no longer support this?).
Anyway, I wanted to find out if Bootcamp is the preferred method for installing Windows if I want to be able to install Windows in UEFI mode (i.e - install it directly onto a GUID partitioned drive, no partition/simulated BIOS trickery), as well as enable AHCI for proper drive performance when booted in Windows; I've installed Windows via bootcamp in the past and found it had horrible drive performance, requiring me to fiddle with Regedit to enable AHCI on next boot, but then it broke some of the Bootcamp drivers, yay
So, what's the current state of Bootcamp Assistant like for installing Windows with regards to UEFI (on recent Macs), GPT and AHCI? Can I still use Windows 7 if I have an existing install disk (in my case a USB stick), or should I manually partition and install Windows and then OS X, since I'll be wiping/repartitioning the drive anyway?
