I've installed Windows 7 64-bit (from Boot Camp) on the 17" unibody MacBook Pro and, for the most part, it was trouble free. However, at my place of employment, the IT guys require us in Windows to push Ctrl-Alt-Del in order to login to Windows. Here's the problem. I have been unable to get that key combination to work. I have tried the following:
1) Ctrl-Alt-Fn-Del - does not work (although Fn-Del behaves correctly in a text editor)
2) SharpKeys to remap Del to another key - say the right apple/windows key - does not work (the registry settings confirm that the key re-binding did take place)
3) Have made sure the Apple Boot Camp drivers were installed in Windows - latest version is 3.1 I believe
I'm at my wits end. The only way for me to login to Windows is to bring up the On-Screen Accessibility Keyboard. If I use my mouse to push Ctrl-Alt-Del, then bingo, it works as it's supposed to.
I did notice that Windows 7 seems to maybe be using a HID keyboard driver from Microsoft even though the Apple driver IS installed and recognized by Windows 7. My gut tells me that this is probably the problem, but I've got no idea how to change it.
I don't know what else to do. I'm amazed that I can't find more on the Internet about this issue. Can anybody out there give me some pointers, or better yet, tell me how to fix this problem?
My apologies if this has been covered in another thread. If so, please direct me to that one.
Thank you.
