I've installed windows 7 on my mackbook pro. When I login on windows the is an E: drive labled macintosh hd. It gives me read only access to every users directory. How do I stop this?

It's a driver included with the Boot Camp 3.x package. You should be able to uninstall the driver from Control Panel.
