Windows 7 download install

Ok, using a MBP '11. I qualify for the student download, how does that work? From what i am reading it looks like i cannot download the file and then just run it on the mac....can i just burn it to CD/DVD using the drive on a the MBP?? Will it just run without having to burn it? Sorry, i have no idea. Also, if i want to run parrellels etc [similar programs], can they be added after i install windows using the bootcamp assistant???? OR do i need to install the virtualization software first, then windows? Thanks for any help. I need to do this soon, i was just informed for a class this semester i have to use some software that is for windows only, and i have to have the software....thanks
