Windows 7 is stable if you aren't running it on shoddy hardware. OSX has just as much a chance to lock up if those are the circumstances.

I've never had Vista x64 nor Windowx 7 x64 lock up even once on my desktop because of a Microsoft-related issue. The only issues I've run into, which were resolved fairly quickly, involved nvidia's driver support.

I've never had any Snow Leopard issues either.

You say OS X can lock up too, but you don't say under what circumstances you are referring to. If you are referring to hardware, that is unlikely to happen since Apple controls both the hardware and software. Possible, yes, but unlikely.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but to come out and state that one is more stable than the other, given presumably nothing more than your own limited personal experience isn't really going to change anyone's opinions one way or the other, is it?

What is the point of this thread?

Unfortunately, it probably will at least bring out people to question SL over Win 7. Those people are generally inept and rely on simple statements like this to make computing decisions. However, if people are smart they'll test both and see what happens you know?

Is SL unstable? I don't know. In my limited user experience on three very different machines I have not found SL to be unstable.

Perhaps Pika you might want to validate your OP with the type of pc you are using with the operating systems and the environment you are using them in e.g what workloads and programs. Just a thought to give more substance to your statement.

I call "Troll"
I call mega troll.

What the OP is saying is
- His Seven never hangs (or very rarely because of driver .... well it IS a hang IMO)
- His OSX never hangs
- consequence: Win7 is more stable

Seriously, what's the point of your topic ?!

Vs.

#Snow Leopard-running computers with problems/# of total computers with Snow Leopard installed

Come back with real data and we'll talk. Second the troll comment.

I don't think he's trolling. Might be missing a few facts though.

Most all issues on Windows seem to be always hardware/driver related. I've got a Dell quad running Vista SP1 and it's rock solid. I haven't had the BSOD since Windows '98. Never did see it on XP.

Of course SL hasn't crashed once for me either.

But I think Win7 is going to cause Apple some heartburn - and that's a good thing for us.

this is hilarious, when people complained that leopard was more stable than vista, there was never any objective evidence. people just gave their anecdotal perspectives and called it a day

now when the reverse happens, suddenly people are asking for facts and data. what a witch-burning..

the man is giving his opinion and you are calling him a troll. ok kids, settle down now

give your win7 registry a month or two of use and come back here and try to claim that win7 is more stable than OSX. you'll be singing a different tune.

even the best maintained systems fall victim to MS' registry inefficiencies at some point in my experience.

BTW, OP: I love this page in your Flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/anim3/3486321462/in/photostream/

Because of this comment left by iBrittnee:

could that be because this is a MAC site and and not a windows site?

i'm pretty sure if a similar post on some windows site about SL being more stable than windows would cause a flame war or banning, compared to people asking for facts to back it up or calling them a troll.

Well, it is true, for me. Windows 7 is more stable for me than snow leopard, latest version.
If i look at my logs of crashes, i see 20+ in snow leopard
Half of these are from no apple applications, but the rest are OS components like UIServer, Finder, etc.
In windows 7 i had 0 OS crashes, and 2 application crashes.
