Windows 7 Microphone probleoms

After installing windows 7 on my MBP, I cant seem to get the built in microphone to work in any programs (skype,vent,aim) but it will work fine in sound recorder. I've messed with the microphone booster but cant seem to find any other adjustment that enable it to work. It has to be something simple that I am missing. Thanks for the help.
