I have purchased a new Macbook Pro 15" retina. I am trying to install Windows 7 x64 on it. I cannot get past the Windows install screen as both the keyboard and touch pad won't work. I have plugged in an external mouse via USB and whilst the light is on, the cursor never shows on the screen. On that basis I cannot install Windows 7.

The idea I had (sacrilege around here) was to install Windows 7 taking up all the drive space. After nothing but poor service from Dell, I figured I would try Windows on a Mac. Unfortunately I have been stopped dead in my tracks as with the keyboard and track pad not working, I have no way to complete the install.

I have also created a bootable USB containing Windows 7 (and boot camp drivers) with the boot camp assistant. That boots fine, but still no keyboard or track pad which has me scratching my head.

I am trying to avoid keeping an OS X partition. I have OSX on an external bootable drive which runs fine (should I ever need it). I really need to have a single Windows partition. I know I can go down the Boot Camp road and keep OSX. I have confirmed that the track pad and keyboard work using that method. But my mandate (from above - corporate policy) is to only have Windows on these machines. Is this possible without having to do post-install hatchery repartitioning?

I really do not understand why I cannot simply boot into the windows installer and have the keyboard and mouse function? I have the boot camp drivers on the install image. What more do I need?
