When I start windows 7 I get a pop from the speakers, it has always been there it is no problem.

Just recently I have started getting a popping noise from the speakers when I start a game or open a program, it is quite a loud pop, just wondered what could be causing that and if it can be stopped ?

Thanks.

I guess, this is because some drivers will shut down the speaker when it is idle, and fire up when there is an audio playback request, from anywhere possible.

Upon this turning off turning on, speaker will send such pop sound, whether loud or not.

Thanks, can the drivers be stopped going into idle then ?

Maybe you can try to disable speaker power management from Windows power option or driver property page. But other than this, we may be able to do little things.
