Right guys, I'm a student so I can get the Win7 Pro upgrade edition dirt cheap at £35.

I have a product key for Vista (it's OEM but its not in use anymore so I'll probably be able to get it reactivated or do the registry edit).

Can I use a Win7 upgrade to do a clean install when I have no windows installed? Just want to save myself time burning a copy of vista onto a disk and installing Windows twice.

Yes you can, but you have to install it (win7) twice. Don't enter the cd key when you a doing a clean install, but when you are "upgrading".
