Windows 7 worth it?

tonight will be my last chance to get windows 7 for 50$. Should I get it or stick with my vista?

I'm a poor college student.
I'm afraid windows 7 will be another failure, despite what people are saying There's always room for it to fail.
In case anybody decides to tell me this, I can't afford a Macbook so dont bother.
I'm also afraid that it might not be compatible with my PC's hardware.
Afraid i might have to download drivers for when i upgrade to windows 7.

Any thoughts?

Dude, Windows 7 is currently free. Download it, install it, wait until March '10 until you have to pay for it. Maybe then you'll have enough for a Macbook.

Windows 7 seems to be stable and a pretty good product

You didn't list your hardware, so nobody can comment on that
However, you can probably check the MS website to find out if it is compatible

For $50, I would say "yes" it is worth an upgrade from Vista
Especially if it is going to be your primary OS

you can be guaranteed that anything that works on vista will work on W7. this is because w7 is based on the same kernel as vista. it is just faster than vista. so i would get it for 50 . that idsa great deal. of course you can get the RC. from MS thouhg i don't know if its still online.

It still is, but I've had an account with MS's TechNet for some time. Perhaps that's the reason?

Anyway, here's the download page. A few different languages available as well.


Inspired, like others, I agree it's worth it.
BTW, is the $50USD (academic license) is the cost of Vista Upgrade now, with a free upgrade to Win7 when it ships?

Yeah, Windows 7 is free for now (if they haven't stopped the downloads), but it will expire next year. Right now, you can get Win 7 for $50 for Home and $100 for Pro. This is for the licensed version.
