So I've noticed that Windows 7 64-bit has decent synthetic benchmarks. Not quite what I received under Lion 10.7.1, but reasonably close. However, when I'm using the 2011 Mac Mini Server as a Windows Media Center PC I get stuttering playback on video intensive content. I traced this back to a HTPC optimization to format the recording drive in 64k blocks. This should have the opposite effect according to Windows 7 Media Center PC builders and improve video performance. It appears that the 2011 Mac Mini is choking on the 64k blocks. I reformatted the recording driving at default 4k blocks and everything is much better.
Is there a way to improve disk performance under bootcamp?
I tried several ways to enable AHCI and each time Windows Failed to boot (blinking black cursor). I was able to recover by restoring the backup bin file created in the process. Any tips for enabling AHCI?
