I have an early '09 24" iMac (4+ years old) that unfortunately is not officially supported by Apple to install Windows 7 x64, let alone Windows 8.1 x64.
I had previously installed Windows 7 x64 with a small workaround, interestingly that same workaround just allowed me to successfully install Windows 8.1 x64 Pro (Preview) via Bootcamp.
I've been running it for the past few hours without a hitch.
Since the steps are still fresh in my mind I was going to post a few things about how to make it work but I didn't want to break any forum rules with regards to this. If anyone can chime in on that before I post I'd appreciate it.
Anyhow, I just feel like this mac, and possibly many others, have been artificially left out of proper Bootcamp support. After all, the specs exceed MSFT's own Windows 8 x64 requirements. It's great to have it run W8.1 without a single issue.
