I used Boot Camp to install Windows 8.1

My OS X partition is backed up by Time Machine.

Can I use the backup option that comes with Windows 8.1 to back up the Windows partition? Or does that end up being a back up of the whole hard drive?

Years ago when I used Windows only, I created compressed image files of the hard drive of various "states" of my drive in terms of what had been installed, and if anything went wonky, I reformatted the drive and installed an image to take me back to a state prior to any problems. I can't remember the name of the program off the top of my head. Anyone have any they can recommend that will work with the Boot Camp install of Windows 8.1?

I liked the image method because it gave me multiple options to revert back to.

I'd also recommend WinClone. Its not free but it works well, I've used to back up and restore my bootcamp partition. Well worth the cost.
