So I installed Windows 8 on my retina macbook pro, and so far it's running ok. I'd prefer Windows 7, but my school was offering 8 for free.

Anyways, after a few weeks of it running no problem, I tried booting it today, and it started up to the welcome screen which showed for maybe 2 seconds, and then the screen turned off, and I think the computer did too (I'm confused as to tell how it's on or off?). No sound was coming from the fans, but they often don't run in the first place when booting up either OS.

I then have to hold down the power button for several seconds before it will restart and the grey screen shows up where I hold down the option key to choose the OS again.

I've tried booting Windows several times, but it keeps turning off after showing the welcome screen for only a few seconds.

My question is has this happened to anyone else? And what should I do fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
