I've wanted to put Windows 7 on my 13" MacBook Pro, but I have read that Windows power management is not as good as OS X, and that you lose at least an hour of battery life running W7 vs OS X on the MBP.

My question is if Windows 8 is better with power management and battery life than W7 with the MBP.

Windows 8 is better than Windows 7 for power management. Having said that, most of the reasons why Windows 7 absolutely blows on a mac has to do with Apple's crap drivers than Windows itself. Regarding that problem, I don't ever see Apple releasing better drivers, for Windows 7 or Windows 8.
