Hi!

I just got a MBP last week, and took the awful step of throwing XP on there tonight in the unlikely event I ever need it (better safe than sorry I guess) and noticed a glaring difference. My model is the base 15", I added the 7200 drive, but nothing else, and Windows reports that my video card has 512MB of ram while OS X says it's the 256 (Which it's supposed to be).

Any ideas what's up with that? Windows is XP Pro, SP3.

Strange.

i would take xp off until you know you need it, as it takes up space

the graphics card supports "turbocache" in windows
this means it can use some system RAM as video memory, which is why it reports 512mb rather than 256.
however, OS X doesn't support turbocache, so there is only 256mb available
