Hi all

Had a perfectly functioning Mac Sierra OS with Windows 10 Home bootcamp. Unfortunately something went wrong during an update in Windows (not sure what I was updating) and now Windows won't boot up.

I would like to find a way to fix this without reinstalling Windows if possible. I think I need to find a way to get into the "advanced start up options for windows" so I can recover from an earlier point in time but cannot work out how to bring this menu up.

I can toggle between Windows and Mac OS on start up by holding OPTION key on restart. Mac OS runs perfectly. If I chose windows I get the 4 squares windows logo with a timer underneath (per attached pic), which after 10 seconds or so moved to a blank screen with a just a timer(see attached pic), and after several minutes the whole thing just restarts and the cycle repeats.

I'm hoping there is some combination of keys that I can hold to bring up the Windows advanced options menu. I have experimented by holding down F2 and F8 on restart but this doesn't seem to

do anything. The only thing I seem to be able to do is to hold down Option on start up to get a choice of whether to try starting in Windows or Mac OS.

I'm a bit of a novice and so simple advice would be appreciated. Many thanks, Peter

I had this issue and I panicked.
In that time I didn’t keep track of what I did.
I believe while Windows was booting I pressed and held the power button until the computer turned off.
Then booted in the Mac and shutdown.
Then booted back into windows and waited. For a bit.
All is fine to date

Good luck

I'm a novice too but came across this...

Hope it helps!
[doublepost=1515512140][/doublepost]I'm not sure the link in my last post will be much use to you as both methods assume that you have booted into Windows 10 already.

I think you can access the advanced options if you have installation media such as a USB Flash Drive if anyone can please confirm?
