Windows can't identify .ipsw

hey everyone. i've been trying to download ios 4.3.1 for iphone 3gs but when i download it it comes in a winrar/winzip folder and when i extract it, it doesn't give me a .ipsw, but .dmg files. I was wondering what i have to do to make it so it can read the file as a whole and just have the white cube. help will be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

What are you trying to do with it, it is not an archive. It is an image file for the iPhone / iPod Touch. Just go into iTunes and CTRL+Click the restore button and it will give you an option to select the file. Point to that file and then it will restore from there.
