I recently purchased an ICY DOCK External enclosure (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817198004) I need FW & USB connections.

I also recently purchased 2 Western Digital harddrives; 1-WD75000AAKS 750gb and a WD5000AAKS 500gb drive.

I formatted the 750 to NTFS and the 500 is used as a Leopard OS and a partial format to FAT32 for between OS transfers.

I transfered all my Media (music, movies etc) to the 750 over FireWire and work flawlessly and always detected the drive each timei plugged it in and restarted the enclosure.

However when i was organizing some of the files (music files and movie file names) it slowed down and then gave me this:
Windows Delay Write Error E:/$Mft

So i tried it again and it showed up then disappeared no disconnent alert either. so i thought that was strange, i tried it again didnt show up, i tried USB, work perfectly. Each & every time.

I ran this WD Diagnostics tool that came with a WD drive and rand full quick test and extended test on both the USB and FireWire cable..and No errors were found.

I tried plugging the Fw400 to another computer, PC and MAC neither would recognize it, only once or twice did either computer pick it up, but the USB connection on all these other computers would always pick it up.

So i wanted to try my other drive, i put in the 500Gb drive and booted into the OS and it worked perfectly and lightning fast.
i shut down and booted into windows to try the FAt32 see if that would be recognized over the FW400 and sure enough it recognizes it so i dontthink its a firewire problem as it is read/writable on any computer i plug the 500gb drive into and usb aswell
but when i put the 750Gb drive in Fw400 is flakey(as in sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesnt) but USB is solid.

could the drive potentially be failing? i just got it not too long ago from newegg.

thanks!
