Okay, I hope that this is the right section to post this.
So I am informed that it isn't standard that Vista (or XP) will boot from an external hard drive. And I have spent the past two weeks trying to find a way around that.
Three weeks ago, I bought a 250gb hard drive for my laptop (MacBook Core Duo) and I also bought 2 gb ram.
I took my own hard drive and I purchased an external enclosure, so that way I could still use the hard drive.
After installing Leopard, I started to think that I would want a copy of Windows (either XP or Vista) on the other hard disk so that way I could play some of my old PC games that I used to play before I converted.
So I first tried Parallels and then I couldn't get that to install on the other hard drive. Last night, I took my new hard drive out and put the old one back in, installed vista, and then put the other one out. I was hoping that if I was able to install vista that it would be able to load, but I was wrong.
When I load the vista hard drive, it boots up to the point where you see the "Microsoft Corporation" text and the scrolling bar underneath. It gets about half way through loading and then makes the computer restart.
I now know that it does that because Windows restarts the USB drivers and then it can no longer load the OS.
To finally get to my point, is there any way around this? I'm really looking to get Vista to work on the other hard drive. I'm pretty open to different ways to fix it, whether it be reinstalling windows or going in and changing some drivers.
One thing that I discover is this:

And I would be curious in doing this, but I don't think that I have the know-how to do this correctly. And I haven't used a PC since like two winters ago. So I don't think that I would have the capability of using the technical software that it mentions.
Do you guys have any suggestions?
