I run exactly 1 Windows program, Freecell. To do that I use VMWare Fusion to run a Windows XP virtual machine on a 2015 Macbook Pro.

How do I do that on the M1 Macs? I know that VMWare currently doesn't support Intel Windows 7 on ARM architecture.

There's a program, QEMU, that I've never used, that should theoretically run Intel Windows on M1. But the Macrumors search function shows little discussion of that program. Do people not use it much?

People here are using Parallels to access Windows. But then I'd need to buy Parallels, then get a version of Windows for ARM, and there might be license issues with virtualization? Seems like a lot of trouble for 1 program.

I suppose I could just run a clone of Freecell and forget about Windows entirely?

People don't care about old versions of Windows?

Run a clone version of free cell on your Mac. If that's al you need, you don't need Windows!

There's no Windows 7 for Arm, so you can't use parallels. QEMU running Windows 7 x86 is SLOW.

I use Eric's All in one Solitaire, but I suspect there are a lot available that run freecell.

Thanks for the response. I'll probably switch to a Freecell clone. Simpler than trying to run Windows on ARM.

I know I am being "silly", but I've been playing Microsoft Freecell since Windows NT back in 1995. Change is hard! :)

I know what you mean and I do the same. I like playing Hoyle Card games, mainly for pinochle and Bridge. And it hasn't been updated from 32-bit on the Mac, so I downgraded my new Intel Mac Mini to Mojave just so I could play it. :)

Now my Intel Mac Mini is running Monterey and running Hoyle in a Windows VM. (It wont run correctly in a Mac VM.)
