Windows great for months, now Black Screen

I had Windows 7 working great in Boot Camp for almost a year. But then suddenly yesterday I get a Black Screen instead of a login screen. Is there a procedure for dealing with this?

Safe Mode works. But I don't seem to be able to install applications (for example to install Apple's Nvidia drivers) in Safe Mode.

Help!
