Windows Media PLayer and Mac

I recently copied all of my concert DVD's (yes I bought them) to my external hard drive (from my windows pc). I then dragged them over to my mac. I needed to free up space on my external. I am running Vista Ultitmate using boot camp. When I play the dvd file it tells me I am out of region. Why does the file play when from the original location on my external drive but not on a drive in my Mac?
