OK, I tried installing WMP for OS X on a fresh Panther install and it quits out after authenticating the installer.

Anyone got it working?

Sorry, I'd give it a shot, but I consider WMP to be evil. I play all my WMP files in MPlayer. Good luck, though.

Mine works, however I already had Media player installed because I only did an easy installation.

mine works, but i had it installed before panther. same thing with stuff it deluxe 8. working fine on my powerbook after i installed panther, but wont install on my g5 after panther.

I tried VLC, but it's not reading the file either...hmmm...

I can still grab WMP off my Jaguar install on another disc, so no big deal.

MS needs to stop promoting Panther and make sure their apps work with it. ;)

edit - alset, I tried MPlayer...no go. I might be dealing with a bad file here.

wmp doesn't work for me either

Same problem, I would like to use this f**** WMP for two websites I love, I really need it, help!

Are you using WMP 9 or the original one for OS X?

If the installer keeps crashing, you might try to delete the preferences file for the installer vise (the name of the installer program), or also try to repair permissions on you HD. WMP9 installs some plug-ins that work with safari......mostly.

Here, I zipped up the Windoes Media 9 Player and the internet plugin.

Download Here

Just unzip it, and put the Player in Applications, and the plugins in /library/internet plugins/ folder

it should be fine then

I don't know why they even need a stupid installer...

MIME video/x-ms-asf-plugin

This plug in is missing that what the computer says:
MIME “video/x-ms-asf-plugin"

wmp 9 crash

and I can't open the application anyway.
the message is display o the net

Well, anyways, I guess you should try to delete the preference file(s) for the installer. C if that works.

Have your tried to restart and then install again?

Thanks Fukui, you're the best!

I've just deleted the preference file and it works perfectly, thank you very much for your help guys!
