hey guys. im new to macs and i want to get windows media player on my mac but it hasnt worked yet. do any of you know if its even possible to get it for mac and if it is how can i do it?

How do I put this gently... Please use your forum's "search" feature. There are many threads on this topic, and it's been answered already.

To answer your question, Windows Media Player is not supported on Mac. Get Flip for Mac to play WMVs. It's free, it works, and it plays through your Quicktime Player.

Also, check out VLC if you don't know about it already. It plays just about anything.

Good luck!

DO NOT install Windows Media Player.

Install this instead:
http://www.flip4mac.com/

This is what Microsoft themselves says to do now.

It allows you to play *.wmv in quicktime.

You might also google for Perian, which is another collection of codecs...

Just posting to give you a link to the Perian website: Perian

I too recommend installing Perian alongside Flip4Mac...now if Apple would just streamline the look/feel of QT, I'd be a happy man, but I digress...
