Hi
At my school, we have a very large network of Windows computers and we have slowly introduced about 10 Macs and bound them via Active Directory and works reletively well. We are looking at getting a large batch of Macs to add to the network and I need some help!
These are my requirements:
- I need a Mac in my office from which I can remotely administrate all of the other Macs on the network.
- All of the Macs need to be intergrated so that when a user goes to use one they can log in with their Windows network credentials and see all of their files (we currently bind each Mac individually to Active Directory to acheive this). *This is very important!*
And a few questions:
- What software would be suitable (if needed)? I know there is Mac OS X Server and other third party solutions but I am unsure of how it will effect the network.
- What is the benefit of having an actual Mac Mini Server? What is its use in my situation? All users and data is stored on the Windows network, so would it be of any use?
Any tips, recomendations or help would be hugely appreciated, thanks!
