Curious, do you have a Windows PC, and a Mac? If so, do you also have both connected to one WIRED speaker system?

Trying to see if I can do this somehow. About to install a new Mac Mini, near my Windows PC. But, use my Bose wired speaker system for both the Windows PC and the Mac.

Feel free to share ideas and possible solutions. Thanks all

I use an old fashioned stereo receiver and tower speakers. I can have multiple computers plugged in to the different inputs. Although it's pretty rare to have more than one plugged in for me.

In the living room. I use a preamp for audio inputs. Which then controls the Amp for the giant speakers. The TV acts also for multiple inputs before the preamp for A/V devices. It also runs a speaker bar. As I rarely power up the HiFi system anymore.

No problem, use one of these....You may need a short jumper to get to one of the computers.

Been using a Wadia DAC with bookshelf speakers in this configuration for a decade now. The DAC has multiple inputs, and I use its remote to switch between the Mac (USB) and PC (Optical).

I actually just completed my setup of Mac Mini and Windows PC today! I got a Mac Mini a couple weeks ago, and added some components that arrived today. I made a lightweight/inexpensive "KVM" using several Sabrent brand components that I got from B&H.

  • Sabrent USB 2.0 Sharing Switch
  • Sabrent 4 Port USB 2.0 Hub with 9.5" cable
  • Sabrent AU-MMSA USB Stereo Sound Adapter
My LG ultrawide monitor has 2 HDMI inputs so I just use the built in switcher for the video portion.

But so far its worked great pressing the USB switcher with my Bose Companion 2 speakers 3.5mm connected to the the USB sound adapter
