Hey I made videos for my track team.
I've came to know and love Pinnacle on windows for making videos. The PC i had ran slow and my videos were affected so I bought a mac. I tried IMovie '08 and '06 and it just didn't seem to cut what I wanted, like put music and change video/pic on exact beat and other nice things.
Any recommended software that is like Pinnicale if anyone ever used it?
I tried adobe premier cs4 and final cut pro but they seem tooo technical and they don't really work right?

Thanks for the help, I hate going to windows and getting blue screen every 10min and the sound lag on my mac(windows) is annoying too.

*Any way to get a Sony DSC-w80 camera to work with mac? SOme reason I don't have permissions to copy stuff off and even sometimes it doesn't show up.

Thanks

Final Cut Express could be up your street. You're also entitled to download iMovie HD for free off of the Apple site (search it) which is far better that iMovie 08. Worth noting is that an improved iMovie 09 is due in February.

How much differenct is Final Cut Express from pro? Also I said I tried iMovie HD '06 and unless its easy to change video/ pic to a beat of music and nice affects, not what Im looking for.

Well, Express isn't that much different than Pro. But to get Pro you have to but Final Cut Studio. FCS is $1,299 and comes with Motion, Color, DVD Studio Pro, Compressor, Soundtrack Pro and LiveType. I suggest you look into these programs on Apple's website if you haven't already.
Express does lack some features that Pro has like a stabilizer which can be very helpful if you don't want to go into Motion which you don't get with Express. This article can be very helpful for a complete compare and contrast. If you want to change something to a beat of music, Motion has an amazing feature for this. Look here for a example for this and watch the video.

I used to use Pinnacle and although I did some nice stuff with it, I went through HELL to get there because of the constant crashing, which I blame on Windows and Pinnacle.

When I switched over to a Mac back in 2005, I began using iMovie '06 and that worked just FANTASTIC for me. I do a lot of my own music videos and the program did/does just what I need it to. About one year ago I picked up FCE and that works very well also. I don't know why you are having such an issue with iMovie, I was able to get the video right on the beat. Did you try making the timeline really large so you can get split second editing?
